Pharos 2020 represents the pinnacle of our red winemaking—crafted only in the most exceptional vintages. This distinctive blend, led by 71% Petit Verdot, opens with layers of dark berries, plums and violets. The palate is complex and finely structured, unfolding notes of leather, chocolate, liquorice and earthy spices, before tapering to a brooding, lingering finish.

Tasting Notes

An unusual blend of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Merlot, deep crimson in colour with a vibrant edge. Aromas of dark berries, charcuterie, floral perfumes and smoky savoury notes. This seductive medium-bodied wine offers a palate of evolving layers of vibrant plums and blackberries, alongside the dusky warmth of leather, liquorice and earthy spices, with a saline streak encased in layered silky tannins. Youthful and assertive, Pharos 2020 will slowly reveal its glories over the course of a meal.

Vineyard & Winemaking

Lovingly hand-picked from our sustainably managed vineyard, the 2020 vintage was a standout despite its challenges. Early ripening, meticulous canopy management, and unprecedented drought conditions resulted in small, intensely flavoured berries. The fruit was harvested in pristine condition, with many considering 2020 as the vintage of the decade.

In the winery, each variety was carefully destemmed, fermented, and aged in new French oak barriques. After 12 months, selected barriques were blended and bottle-aged for over two years, creating a wine of remarkable depth and complexity.

Cellaring Potential

Approachable now, yet structured for longevity, Martello Rock 2021 will continue to evolve beautifully in stable cellaring conditions for 5–8 years.
