Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

"An enticing cerise pink, with slight hints of coral, this elegant rosé recalls aromas of summer ripened raspberries, red Japanese plum with its aromatic yellow flesh, and delicate floral notes of tropical hibiscus. The palate is sublimely textural, grainy, with red plum, nectarine and peach, layered throughout the palate along with summer berries. A velvety, strawberry sorbet mouthfeel is offset by a savoury backbone - this delicious dry wine with its lovely fleshy mid palate, has a vibrant touch of minerality and a lively, clean finish."

Accolades

  • CAMERON DOUGLAS MS: 94 Points — Excellent
"Floral, very fragrant and enticing bouquet with a mix of red berries and summer berry pudding, raspberry and roses. Taut, crisp and dry on the palate with a back bone of acidity, fine fruit tannins, mineral, crunchy and delicious. Brand new with best drinking from late 2025 through 2028."

In the Vineyard

"Finally back on track after three challenging years in the vineyard, with a stunning vintage in 2025, we made the decision to divert all our Brick Bay grown red fruit into our flagship reds, Martello Rock and Pharos, having produced no red wine since 2021 apart from a small volume of Petit Verdot in 2022. We were therefore fortunate to be able to procure immaculate handpicked fruit from a Hawke’s Bay vineyard. The Hawke’s Bay region had an exceptional vintage, with the earliest budburst and flowering in a decade. Good, even temperatures in a generally dry summer, meant low disease pressure and perfect ripening conditions."

In the Winery

Working with exceptional quality Hawke’s Bay Merlot, our winemaker crafted our Rosé in our signature Brick Bay style. The grapes were gently pressed, left on their skins for a short time to achieve the desired colour and flavour profile, then vinified at cool temperatures in stainless steel. Stop-fermentation achieved an exceptional fruit/acid/sugar balance in this wine.

Cellaring Potential

As with most rosés, this wine is designed to start drinking over the summer following harvest. However, ageing accentuates the dried fruit characters. Enjoy chilled with a wide variety of summer food flavours, or simply as a refreshing aperitif.
