Richard Mathieson - Little Strath, 2020
Born in Featherston, Richard Mathieson studied at the Elam School of Fine Arts in the early 1980s under Greer Twiss and Christine Hellyar. He has lived in Auckland ever since and has been extensively involved in sculpture galleries and projects, including Star Art, Medal Art, Sculpture in the Gardens, and Summer of Sculpture.
Little Strath is a meditation on the Gaelic term for "broad-valley" and fits into a series of bronze landscape studies that Mathieson has created.
