He says of his most recent work: “Harmony is a metaphor for relationships. Equals connected via a relationship - in all its various incarnations , but with 'breathing space' to be a unique self.”

Turner works predominantly with stone, granite and hard metamorphic rock. He is a self-taught artist, who has trained his eye and skills over the years. He has been heavily inspired by his travels to Italy, where he has spent time in Carrara at the northernmost tip of Tuscany - the source of the famous white and blue-grey marble. Carrara marble has been used since the time of ancient Rome, with Renaissance masterpieces such as Michelangelo’s Pietà and David sculpted from the precious stone.

Travels to Japan have been another rich source of inspiration for the artist, who references elegant classical forms mixed with modernist tendencies, in the vein of Noguchi and Brancusi.

Johnny Turner’s works are in numerous prestigious private art collections throughout the world, including Australia, U.S.A and Europe.
