250 metres of new boardwalk have been completed over the autumn, largely the work of Michael Drechsel, a German carpenter from Goerlitz.
Operating in much the same way as a traditional travelling journeyman, offering fine craft in exchange for board (and the odd glass of wine), Michael has done an extraordinary job extending our boardwalks around the trail.
He has further left his mark with a stunning handrail on the Kauri Climb, in the traditional twisted rope, or seilhieb design. Thank you Michael!
