Jayson Bryant's Wine Adventures

On a pleasant drive one hour north of Auckland, you arrive at Brick bay Vineyard, on Arabella Lane. The vineyard was planted 17 years ago and the wines are made at Westbrook Winery in Auckland. The production is small, with between 1200- 1500 cases of wine made annually.

The vineyard setting is what makes this place different from many. Set in just 4 hectares the site also houses a fantastic sculpture park, with art from artists such as Gretchen Albrecht and Virginia King, but the highlight was the knowledgeable cellar door staff. They were pleasant and could tell me everything about the wines and vineyard (great with the Rugby World Cup just around the corner).

The vineyard makes just 4 wines, Pinot Gris, Rosé, and 2 Bordeaux blends with most wines just being sold onsite and in very specialist retail stores.
